Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) has teamed up with the edutech platform AirAsia Academy to help stigmatised minorities increase their chances of employability by equipping them with the relevant knowledge and marketable skills in the technology-driven economy.

For a start, 200 selected learners from the B40 communities, fresh graduates, the unemployed, and those who lost their jobs will participate in the 10-day fully funded training and job placement program sponsored by Yayasan Peneraju.

They will also undergo fast-track courses or ‘Bootcamp’ by AirAsia Academy in Digital Marketing, Software Engineering, Data Analytics and Cloud Infrastructure.

President (Ventures) Capital A & Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Academy, Aireen Omar, said: “We received an overwhelming response from the general public who are keen to pursue a career in technology, but this time around, we are focusing on serving the underserved.

Strategy and Communications Director of Yayasan Peneraju, Dr Amina Josetta Kayani, said: “We’re teaming up with AirAsia Academy to ensure that we level the playing field for those with “special” needs and circumstances, even Huffaz, people with learning disabilities and reformed juvenile offenders.

“Yayasan Peneraju is working with AirAsia Academy to provide adequate training, monitor their progress, and guide them all the way to suitable employment opportunities that can help turn their lives around.”

Dr Amina adds: “Once the participants have completed their training, they will undergo the employment transition program, which features a workplace simulation exercise to help them assimilate to the working environment and prepare them for their new career in the technology field.”
