In a touching display of affection and gratitude, security guard K. Kittu, affectionately known as ‘Uncle Kittu’, made a surprise return to SK Bandar Baru Putera on January 1, 2024, Bernama reported.
The heartfelt letter from students expressing their longing for him on the opening day of school prompted his decision to resume duty at the national school.
Students’ emotional letter to “Uncle Kittu”
Despite initial plans to move to a new place of work at the end of the previous year, Kittu’s emotional connection with the students played a pivotal role in his decision to return.
Overjoyed faces greeted him at the school, and he revealed, “My son had also tugged at me, pleading ‘Dad, just go to work there (SK Bandar Baru Putera).
The students also wrote things like ‘uncle don’t go’ and ‘uncle work here’.”
Moved by the students’ plea, Kittu returned to duty on the condition that he would not leave them again.
SK Bandar Baru Putera PIBG support
The Parent-Teachers Association (PIBG) of the school also played a significant role in his comeback, as they overwhelmingly voted in favour of him resuming guard duty.
Kittu shared, “They called me to work here again. Some people said things were a bit haywire without me when their children want to cross the street after school because if I am there, I tell the kids to wait at the hut before I stop the traffic for them.”
Kittu’s story is a testament to the strong bond he shares with the students of SK Bandar Baru Putera, transcending religious and racial differences.
The heartwarming reunion captured the essence of the special relationship between the security guard and the school community.
As ‘Uncle Kittu’ resumes his road-crossing vigilance, the school can once again enjoy the reassuring presence that has become a cherished part of their daily routine.
